I visited Jeongdam Dwaeji Gukbap, a pork gukbap specialty restaurant in Magok, Gangseo-gu.

I ordered the Malgeun Dwaeji Gukbap (regular 10,000 won, large 12,000 won) — I went with the large portion!

The clear broth is clean and light yet deeply rich; it's somewhere between pork gukbap and dakgomtang, and I personally enjoyed it a lot. The seasoning is well balanced, so it tasted much better with just a little pepper than with the spicy chili paste; if you want a bit of heat, add gochugaru (chili powder). The basic side dishes are pickled onions, fresh napa cabbage kimchi (geotjeori), and seasoned chives — the fresh kimchi was especially good. If you run out, you can refill at the self-service bar, and steamed rice refills are free.

The interior is a bit compact, so during busy times like lunch you may have to wait a little, but it's clean and well organized and the staff were friendly!

Overall, I'll come here to cure my hangover the day after drinking.
