Hansokum is a restaurant in Magok specializing in solo dining and drinking!

As you'd expect from a place for solo diners, the interior is arranged with individual booth-style counter seats. Each seat had a personal grill, a water tap, and a charger, which was very convenient.

I ordered the beef haejangguk (₩8,000; discounted to ₩7,500 at lunch) and additionally ordered a fried egg (₩1,000) and a bowl of rice (₩1,000) to share with my companion. It turned out that the beef haejangguk already comes with one fried egg, and if you tell the owner, they pack the rice tightly and give you a lot, so they told me not to order extra next time. They don't pre-portion the rice and serve it as needed, and they said they'd give you plenty if you want to eat a lot — really nice :)

First, the side dishes were varied and tasty (they seem to change daily!), and the beef haejangguk itself was comfortably delicious. After the meal, the owner makes a different dessert each day; this time they gave us a mousse made from kabocha (pumpkin) and sweet potato, which was sweet and perfect as a palate-cleansing dessert.

Overall, the food was good, and considering today's prices, I think the value for money is excellent. Above all, the owner was extremely friendly, so we left feeling great. They also serve grilled dishes like pork belly and pork neck at lunchtime. I thought you would grill them yourself on the personal grill, but the owner grills them and serves them, so I'll try the pork belly next time!

In conclusion, this is the kind of place I think I'll definitely visit at least once a week :)
