Yeosu Gat Yukgo is a barbecue restaurant where Yeosu’s specialty, Dolsan gat kimchi, is served together with the meat!

At first I thought the "Gat" in Gat Yukgo meant "God" rather than the "gat" in gat kimchi... Anyway, a friend recommended it as delicious, so I decided to visit.

I ordered a half portion of meat (500g, 49,000 KRW — pork belly/pork neck/gabrisal ※pork belly can be swapped for ogyeopsal) and Yeosu seafood doenjang jjigae (7,000 KRW). First of all, the meat was really tasty, the side dishes that came with it were also good and paired well with the meat, and the staff grilled the meat for us from start to finish, which was very convenient and satisfying (after work it’s hard to grill meat, so I love places that grill it for you...). I was very surprised that steamed egg was served as a complimentary dish (since it’s usually something you have to order extra), and the extra doenjang stew we ordered was also delicious!

The interior was a bit smaller than I expected and slightly uncomfortable (the space between tables is narrow, so the people at the table behind kept accidentally bumping into us), but most of the staff were friendly, and above all the dessert ice cream was really tasty!

Overall, I’ll probably stop by once in a while when I’m craving samgyeopsal. 😊
