I was running errands in Jongno and happened to discover a parasol shop by chance!

It’s tucked a little inside, so I almost walked past it at first, but its traditional Korean atmosphere caught my eye and I naturally stopped. The shop itself was not big, just cozy.

At first the traditional displays were so pretty that I lingered outside for a while, haha. I felt a bit awkward going in with my whole family at once…

I was hesitating about whether to go in, but the owner was incredibly kind and opened the umbrellas so we could compare them while explaining each design in detail…😲

That left a really good impression on me 🥹👍

It didn’t feel like they were just selling things — you could feel their love for the products and passion for their work. That sincerity stuck with me! 👏

We bought the dancheong-pattern parasol and the mother-of-pearl design parasol shown in the photos.

The mother-of-pearl parasol was said to be one of their most popular items, and there were actually two versions of the same mother-of-pearl design. Both were so pretty that we hesitated for a long time, but in the end we chose the design with a bit more pattern rather than the simpler version!

It doesn’t come across well in photos, but it’s really beautiful in person…🥹

I bought the dancheong parasol as a gift for my mother and she really liked it. She’d been planning to get a parasol anyway, so I was happy it turned out to be a nice gift 😄

Yes… it’s expensive.. ^^
If you usually use cheap parasols, you might find it a bit(?) pricey, but considering the value of traditional designs like dancheong and mother-of-pearl, I felt it was a reasonable price…!
So I can’t give an outright wholehearted recommendation…
(but it is really expensive, and the actual item is so beautiful…😭)

If you’re looking for a traditional-style parasol, souvenir, or gift, I think it’s worth taking a look.

I was so satisfied that I’ll visit again if I’m in the area!
Actually, other family members are the ones who ended up using them, haha. I already have some, so it’s awkward to buy another one now — I’ll probably buy from here if one breaks in the future (I already have two..)

Oh, and the accessory in the photo that looks like an earring is actually a hair ornament.
It looked much better matched with the parasol✨
It’s a hairpin that you clip on like attaching to a hair tie, and it matched the umbrella so well that I loved it.
(Secretly, the owner slipped it to me 🤫)
